Creating space for active minds

Providing an intellectually challenging program of studies which promotes a love of learning and prepares students for post-secondary education is a priority at the Academy. The SMA library’s continually evolving collection of books, periodicals, non-print and on-line resource materials supports and enriches the curriculum and provides recreational reading for students and staff. It is the goal of the library to promote reading and research for knowledge and pleasure as well as to teach the necessary information gathering skills which students will need to become life-long learners. Ideally, a school library/research centre is centrally located at the heart of the learning community; the intellectual nerve centre.

Library expansion plans include:

• new, spacious library on the1st floor opposite the cafeteria
• seating for 2 classes of students
• a seminar room
• staff work area with storage
• adjacent computer lab for student research and work
