Education is always changing and we must ensure that the Academy can continue to provide quality education that meets the needs of today’s students.
With a Foundation for the Future, we now dream to expand the vision.

Ten years ago we conducted a program review and assessment of space requirements and developed a long range plan that addressed enrollment, program, and facility needs. It anticipated that more space will be needed to accommodate various program and facility enhancements.
The staff and SMA Foundation Board of Directors then embarked on an ambitious plan to redevelop the facility — a renewed school for the new millennium. In 2000 a new entrance to the Sister Rita Maureen Gym was completed (Phase 1). Two years later, following the successful Foundation for the Future capital campaign, the 1909 classroom building was upgraded to meet code standards, air conditioning was added and new human ecology labs and the Richardson Science Wing were constructed (Phase 2).

Phase 3 is the largest undertaking to date. In the fall of 2010 Phase 3A construction was completed and our new Durocher Library, visual arts studio, and fitness room opened.

Our enthusiastic students and staff feel truly blessed to have such a beautiful environment in which to learn and work. And we feel equally blessed to have the encouragement and support of the alumnae, parents and friends who have made it possible.
Expanding the vision continues. Read about our plans for Phase 3B and how you can support this project.
