School Liturgies
The St. Mary’s Academy community generally gathers monthly in Alumnae Hall for school-wide liturgical celebrations. These gatherings are opportunities to worship together, to participate in the rhythm of the Liturgical year, and to give thanks for the many blessings we receive.
Special Celebrations and Rituals
Holy Names Chapel is our constant sacred space. Throughout the year, St. Mary's students and staff go there individually or gather as a community to pray. Whether it is for the grade 7 bible ritual, the sacrament of reconciliation, advent services or staff prayer time we treasure this sacred space space in our building.
Wednesday Morning Prayer
Wednesday morning prayer at 8:00 am in Holy Names Chapel is a longstanding tradition at SMA. A community of students, staff, parents and alumnae gathers to celebrate Mass or participate in Taize Prayer (during Advent and Lent). Join us every Wednesday morning starting after Thanksgiving until the May long weekend.
Choir and Musicians
The SMA choir consists of students and staff, vocalists and instrumentalists who gather regularly at lunch to practice, develop skills and embrace their call to ministry. The choir leads the music ministry at school liturgies, Wednesday morning prayer, the Alumnae Homecoming Mass, the International Day Mass and at Open House. At Christmas the choir goes carolling at the Sisters of the Holy Names Despins Residence.
