Acceptable Behaviour
The Library is available for quiet study and research. Quiet talking and working together in small groups is allowed so long as this activity does not infringe on the rights of others. No food or drink allowed. Students who are not behaving appropriately will be asked to leave and may be subject to library disciplinary action. The goal of the library is to create a positive learning environment by providing quality resources and services to all who use the library.
Circulation Procedures
Most books and back issues of magazines may be checked out for two weeks and may be renewed if necessary. References materials may be checked out for overnight use. Students are responsible for any item checked out in their name.
Technology Acceptable Use
Students must abide by the Academy’s Computer Network Acceptable Use Policy. All Internet use applies to any network station at St. Mary’s Academy, including the library. It is the responsibility of the student and parent/guardian to be aware of the contents of the Computer Network Acceptable Use Policy. Internet access is essential in using the library resources as many online databases are now accessed via the Internet.
Reserve Materials
Teachers often request that certain materials be placed on reserve to insure equal access to those items for all class members. These items will be placed on a cart and may be checked out for overnight use and must be returned the following morning by 8:30 a.m.
Overdue Materials
Items not returned by the due date will be considered overdue. Overdue notices will be sent to the student in homeroom. Grade reports and/or diplomas will not be issued until all items are returned to the library and replacement cost for lost or damaged materials are paid.
